Biography
Kenny Perry is a 14-time winner on the PGA Tour and earned his first Champions Tour victory at the 2011 SAS Championship. He is also a four-time U.S. President's Cup team member and a two-time U.S. Ryder Cup team member, with his most recent Ryder Cup coming in 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club in his native state of Kentucky.
His pro career began in 1982 and after many solid seasons in the 80s, he captured his first Tour win in 1991 at the Memorial Tournament. It wasn't until his three victories in 2003 that Kenny started making his march up the World Rankings. Kenny was in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Rankings for over 100 weeks from 2003-05 and then again in 2009-10. After winning the 2009 Travelers Championship he moved into a career-high spot of fourth in the World Rankings. He turned 50 years old in 2010 which qualified him for the Champions Tour and has split his schedule between both tours ever since. His win at the SAS Championship in October 2011 came with a heavy heart as he learned that weekend about his sister's death.
In addition to his wins, Kenny was awarded the 2009 Payne Stewart Award in recognition of his respect for the traditions of the game and his commitment to charitable giving. Kenny got his start in golf at age 7 with help from his father who spent hours working with Kenny on the range. As a gesture to give back to his community, Kenny built the only public golf course in Franklin, KY, and designed it for mid to high handicappers who can play for an affordable rate. Kenny and his wife Sandy are proud parents of their three grown children, Lesslye, Justin and Lindsey.
He will be playing on both the PGA and Champions Tour in 2012.
